The old adage in Hollywood is that success is about who you know rather than your skill set. While this is partially true, it’s more important to be in the right place at the right time. Many hugely successful actors got their first big breaks from sheer luck. Most hugely talented actors who eventually find consistent work are rejected hundreds of times before they make it onto the screen or stage. Casting directors are often looking for different things than what you think you bring to the table. They take actors onto their production team because they like their “look” and take whatever skills that actor may or may not have.
Being in the right place at the right time is all about persistence. The more auditions you go to, the better chance you have of lucking into a part. Talent is of course important, but anyone who has gone to some acting classes and doesn’t get nervous performing in front of others has the talent for many roles in Hollywood. Continuing to go to auditions after multiple rejections from all over town is what separates the true actors from everyone else chasing their dreams in Hollywood.
Kim Tassinari believes that she has a chance to enter the action scene after a long, successful career as a medical doctor treating movie stars and their families in North Hollywood for fifteen years. Tassinari developed the kind of work ethic that actors need in her years of medical school and practicing medicine.
